Waynesville is at the heart of an arts community that’s thriving in the region, a community that’s been a part of Waynesville’s history since the 19th century. Today those artists create and show their work in studios, galleries and museums in Waynesville’s historic setting, from exhibits at the North Carolina Museum of Handicrafts, to galleries in Main Street’s vintage storefronts and in the restored railroad district, to festivals such as the Church Street Festival, which draws artists, photographers, potters and visitors every fall
July is a great time to visit Waynesville when the Folkmoot Festival, a 10 day celebration of international cultures through dance, music, and food.
